A Little Chemistry

Hellloooooo Blogging Buddies!

How are you all keeping these days? Hope life is treating you well??

I'm here today with a very quick make.

The current challenge at HDH is:

"Working in the lab, late one night".
Basically, we'd like to see your interpretation of a
mad scientist's lab, his creations, experiments, rats, beakers, etc..
Or maybe even your own experimentation. Be creative!

So I doodled another little 'Halloweenie' character to go with the rest of the collection.
This little fella is available in my Delicious Darkness Shop, and is named 'Halloweenie - Crazy Chemist':

He has been coloured digitally and printed three times for fussy cutting and layering up with foam pads. He was then layered onto some yellow card and stuck to a green base before edging with black ink.

Told you it was quick!! lol.
I was running out of time - got me a busy week ahead. Interviews, fetching Mum from airport, and a jollie planned for next week so I won't be around until 12th May!!

Catch ya later folks!!

Pretty Lillies

Helloooo my luvvlies!
How are you all keeping these days?? Hope all is well in your neck of the woods...?

Blowing a hoolie up here right now, just started raining too - shame, was nice earlier and I got some more seeds planted in the garden and greenhouse.

Thought I would pop by and show off the card I made for my Mum for Mother's Day. I know, I'm a bit behind in showing it, but I was a bit peeved that my Mum hadn't got it in time. Damned PO people kept a hold of it and asked for more money!! And that was after I had it put through the slot thingy in our local PO!! Went through fine up here. . . Pain in the butt...

Anyhoose, I went all pink and fluffy for this one.
Coloured up my Delicious Doodles 'Lilleth' image, and made my own papers for the backing. You can get those HERE

I cut a die frame out of some pink card I had so I could pop the image in it. I printed out my scanned in coloured image a few times so I could 'pop up' little elements like some of the flowers.

I dug out my feathers and found this gorgeous vibrant pink one that was just the right colour for this make and stuck it behind the image/frame. Then I rummaged round the ribbon drawer and found some bits to match.

Used some of those 'candy' dot things, in the corners and on the horizontal ribbon to tie it all together. Then it was all mounted onto some green bazzill before being put onto the plain white card base.

Here's hoping that Mum has this now.

Up-cycling, Steampunk Style

Helloooooo folks!
Happy Monday to ya! hee-hee.

***Warning - photo heavy post!***

This past week or so has seen me busy battling away with glue and metallic paint. WHY do these things take soooooooooo long to dry!!?? LOL
And it was all for the minions in the dungeon so they can keep an eye on how late/early it is...Allow me to elaborate:

Our theme in the Haunted Design House this fortnight is:
StEaMpUnK JuNk
That's right, it's time to gather up those bits and bobs, odd and ends, and
make something Steampunk-y with them!
That's why there are metallic paints, right?
The idea is to reuse, or up-cycle something(s) in your junk drawer,
or something destined for the trash bin.
Make it into a Steampunk inspired project.
Got it?

Well, after rattling me feeble brains for a day or two I came to a decision to make something out of this old sweetie tin I have had lying around for months. A trip to the local DIY store and some plumbing/paint purchases later I had the inspiration to make a clock. Of course I had to go and buy me a clock movement thingy off ebay too. Sheesh, these minions are costing me a fortune!! lol

As I didn't have a clock face to go with my theme, I had to design one for myself. Luckily I had some of the elements to start with so I just threw them together and twiddled a bit, added some cogs and ta-da!

Anyroadup, this tin took a few layers of this metallic hammer effect paint so I didn't see the original colours anymore. Drilled a hole in the lid for the spindle of the movement to stick through. I stuck the box part to the back of the lid with foam pads, as the spindle was a tad too long. Then I stuck a load of bolt heads and random bits round the outside of the tin.

Around the face of the clock I added some washers, gems, and some wee hot glue fix metallic effect stud thingies on top of which I added some fake pin heads. The pic below shows those bits better. The hands of the clock were black, but they didn't look right. Luckily for me the opposite side of the hands were this lovely metal colour, so I flipped them and use that side instead!

Next was the stand thingy for the clock part to sit on. These were the plumbing bits I got from the DIY store. Hubby helped out here by cutting some bits of copper pipe from the shed so I could attach it all together. I took a couple of old door handles and attached them over the pipe before sticking them onto the backing piece of the clock. That was just a bit of canvas board I cut to size and painted. I added some cogs and bits to the bottom of it for decoration, and a piece of electrical connector thing to help it stay upright, as it was prone to swinging about.

On the back of that I have recycled a wee buzz-saw shaped thingy from a previous make, painted of course!

So here ya go with the final piccie of the finished clock!

Why don't you pop across to the HDH Blog and see what my minion mates have come up with this time? Fab stuff from them this week - and more delicious yummies to come next week too!! Oooo - and you can show off your lovely dark makes over on the HDH Facebook Group now as well - see ya there peeps!!
