Bad Moon Rising

Hiya folks!

It's a soggy morning here in NE Scotland, just back from my morning walkies and having to get changed already. The forecast is naff to say the least, not much chance of seeing any moon tonight!

Talking of moons (see the link there. . .) the new theme over at Macabre Monday is:

"Bad Moon Rising"
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that depicts a BIG BAD MOON.
Make it full, waxing, waning or crescent. Just make it big
and the main focus of your wonderfully wicked project.
Cute will get you in the door, but the Dungeon prefers things
creepy and dark.

And we have a sponsor in the shape of 'On Cupcake Moon'.

I have used my image Luna La Lupa (Wolf Moon) for this card:

I made it into a twisted easel this time. I do like these, although I do struggle in thinking up ways to make the thing stand other than flowers! lol.

My base card is purple core-dinations, with black card and mirri, and a printed dotty dp. The frame round the image is also a printed one, both from the pooter. Corners punched with a MS corner punch, and that piece was layered onto mirri and cut to shape. There is also a large mirri card circle beneath, meant to simulate a moon, although you can hardly see it, lol.

Flowers are made using spare card and various punches, with a gem for the centres.

The image also has a moon, behind the girl and wolves. I have coloured my image with watercolour pencils, and scanned it in to reproduce the layers for my 3D effect. Here is a close-up:

And finally a face view of just the front:

Right, that's it from me today. Off to fill up the bath and have a nice, relaxing soak. After entering some other challenges that is! TTFN folks!

Come and Get It - 3D Flowers
Great Impressions - Walk on the Wildside

So, without further ado, I would like to announce the names of our DT newbies!

Now, some of these ladies were soooooo keen to get going that they made a celebratory creation just for the sake of it, and who would blame them! lol.

Please join me in welcoming our new ladies then:

Woohoooo ladies, welcome aboard.

I hope you all have fun working together with all the existing DT and enjoy the forthcoming challenges.

Speaking of which folks, we will be restarting the Challenges on Friday 7th September - so keep your eyes peeled for that everyone!!

A CAS Card - maybe. . .

Hiya folks!

Ha-ha! Nothing from me for weeks, then two cards in two days! I thought I would do me a card just for the sake of it today. Been meaning to have a go at another CAS card, so I thought this week's challenge over at Less Is More (one layer) would suit just fine. And here it is:

I have used my Delicious Doodles image 'Tiger' for this one, as the Less is More theme is for 'Fur or Feathers'. I was going with a peacock feather, but it just didn't look right, so this is what I went with in the end. Even then I just HAD to pop a dotty border round it! lol. Hope that's allowed? Here is a close-up of the image, to which I added a border, and under which I added a sentiment (for a change!)

So that is it then, or so I thought. . .

I'm sorry, but I just couldn't do it. I am just hopeless at leaving a card like that with nothing else on it. I just wasn't happy with the look as it was.

So off I went and added some punched flower and leaf shapes, and some stickles and inky edges, and for some extra bling, a few pearls! Tee-hee. And here is the card with added froo-froo:

Aaaahhhh, that's better! lol. Amazing what a bit of bling can do. It's still a fairly simple card, just not so 'clean' any more! Here is a close-up of the punched flower shape, with inky edged petals and stickles added. There is also some stickles around the image border, which you can just make out here:

So there you have it folks! A CAS card which ended up not so CAS !! lol.

Feel free to disqualify if you like Lim-ettes!

Right, lets find a few challenges to enter this into then -

Papertake Weekly - Spots and Stripes (spotty border, stripey Tiger!)
The Paper Girls - Birthdays
Catered Crop - White
Crafty Catz - Anything Goes
Forever Friends (monthly) - Black and White (+animal)

Hiding in the Corners

Hiya folks!

Hope you all had a lovely crafty weekend? Mine was busy, but I didn't seem to accomplish anything, WTF's that all about?? I also spent a flipping AGE making this here card for this week's Macabre Monday theme, which is:

"Hiding in the Corners"
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that is obviously adorned in the corners.
It doesn't matter if it's an ATC, a painting, or a 3D project.
It must have something lurking in or on it's corners.
As usual, creepy cute will work, but the Minions really get
a warm and fuzzy feeling when we see beautifully scary,
tastefully macabre, and gorgeously Gothic inspired pieces.
Just sayin'.

Well, I must have made this card at least three times in my efforts to be happy with it, anyway, enough moaning, here it is:

I have used my brand new image which is being added to the Delicious Doodles Shop on Wednesday. It is called 'Black Widow' and features a load of yucky spiders (who also like to lurk in corners!). A perfect choice for Halloween makes for you dark and creepy DD fans, lol.

Anyroadup - my backings are layered card on black bazzil, and some yummy textured card from Kanban (Cornucopia). This was in my stash, and has totally run out now - MUST get some MORE!!

The webby dp is one I made up myself using my Cobweb image.

I added a yummy strip of black trim, and hand-tied a huge bow from black organza ribbon. The four corners have a die-cut piece in them, inked and smudged with metallic rub-on, then topped with a wee gold gem. I also added a little gem to the corners of the image frame.

Here is a close-up of the coloured image, done using my watercolour pencils, scanned, printed and layered up:

And finally another view of the finished card.

Hope you can all join us this time folks, you could win a voucher to spend at the Stitchy Bear Store who are sponsoring us at Macabre Monday this week. (BTW, my images are on sale there too!!)

Maid of the Riverbank

Hiya folks!

What a yummy day it has become. After a grey start the sun is now out and blazing away. And here I am stuck indoors on this compy - duh. Where are my priorities?? lol.

Anyroadup, I have a make for you - woooohoooo!!

I have used my brand new image 'Maid of the Riverbank' for this card front today.
I have only done a front, kind of like a full sized topper if you will. I'm figuring that folks may want to buy a front ready made to stick to a card of their own. What do you reckon? Is there a market for these things?

Anyway, I have coloured with watercolour pencils as is my usual thing, scanned, printed and layered. Matted with a framabilities die onto dotty dp printed from the compy, then matted onto orange card and blue bazzil. The flowers and leaves are made using punched shapes from the same card, then adding inky edges and stickles. I added some pale green pearly drops to their centres and to the two uncovered corners. Last thing was to add some blingy gems to the frame.

Oh, I had better just mention that there are TEN DAYS LEFT in the Delicious Doodles DT Call, so still plenty of time to get your applications in folks!!

Right, now to find me some challenges to enter this into, ttfn folks!!

DYSU - 4 Legged Friends (otter again)

Delicious Doodles DT Call

Hiya folks!

It's time for a DT Call over at Delicious Doodles!!

There will be a few changes to the Challenge Blog in the next few weeks, before the new season starts in September. The first one being the biggest. We will be going onto a weekly format which means we are going to need some more lovely crafters to join us here!

I would love to see us have two teams of eight peeps, so with the ladies that are staying on we shall need another SEVEN bodies to join us!

What do you get?

Well, to start with you get to create whatever you like using Delicious Doodles images FOR FREE.

You get access to all the images, old and new, to do whatever you like with. You can even use them for other challenges you want to enter, not just for this DT's makes.

You also get a happy and stress free experience on this DT, with plenty of support and friendship.
Sound good?

How long is it for?

You get to stay on for as long as you like. I have no set rules over 'terms', so even if you stay a few months or for a year it doesn't matter. We are such an easy going lot here!! lol

What is required?

First and most important of all, plenty of enthusiasm for creating with Delicious Doodles images!

Next, you need to have a blog, which you post to regularly. You would be required to post your DT creations to it for each of the Challenges you create for.

As a member of a two-teamed DT you would be making something once every other week, so that's only two makes a month. Not too stressful huh? I can't stand to be stressed when making stuff, and I don't want my DT feeling that way either.

You would also need to be able to comment on the entries to the challenges. This will be divided between the DT members equally, so no need to comment on every entry!

How do I apply?

Right, well here is the fun bit! I would like you to snag this here yummy image and create something with it in your usual favoured style.
Then just post your creation as you would normally do, and
enter it in the Blue Froggy on the Challenge Blog!

Some of the existing DT and I will pop along and have a mooch round your blog too if that's OK folks?

How long have I got?

This DT Call will run for  couple of weeks until
Monday 20th August at 12 midday (UK time),
so that should be plenty of time for you to come up with something tasty for us to oggle at!!

So folks, if you love Delicious Doodles images and would die to get your hands on them (lol), then get busy creating and apply NOW!!!

Quiet Contemplation

Hiya folks!

Thought it was about time I got a flipping card made, can't remember the last time I did - must be at least a month ago :(

Well I went on me jollies for a week or so, and of course, you know how that throws everything out of kilter. I'm only just getting back to some sort of normality now (if that included doing out the bathroom, that is).

Anyways, I HAVE done a make, and this one uses the new Oriental style image that was just released in the Delicious Doodles Shop -

Isn't she just so graceful and serene?

I coloured her in with the usual watercolour pencils, scanned and printed out twice for a simple layered effect. This was matted onto a couple of frameabilities shapes that I trimmed one of and added to the other to make it longer, as it was a square originally.

The band in the middle is cut with an MS Border punch. DP's are some old Papermania Oriental ones I have had lying about for ages, matted onto black bazill. The flower is cut from the same stock using a couple of flower punches and a large gem placed in the middle.

I have added a load of gems, and some black pearls too, just for a bit of bling and to tie it all together.

Now, to find some challenges -

Crazy Amigos - Dies and Punches
Die Cuttin' Divas - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesday - Anything Goes
Paper Playtime - Anything Goes
(sorry, I omitted the sentiment because I don't use them)
