New Release at Delicious Doodles

Hiya folks!

With summer in full swing (yeah, right!) I though it was time I did a floral image, and as I love seeing the Foxgloves in the woods at this time of the year, that's what I decided to draw. So here it is -

These are so elegant don't you think?

Would look fab in a rectangular border, hmm, an idea for a card coming up, if only I had the time to make it before I go on my jollies at the weekend!!!

Have fun with it peeps!

Butchered Blueprint

Hiya folks!

Happy Monday, hope you have the sun where you are? Our sun seems to have gone on it's usual summer holiday, rather grey and misty muck falling again. YAWN.

Anyroadup, time for a new theme at Macabre Monday, and this week we have a
Butchered Blueprint (sketch)
to follow designed by our own Mistress Barb, and here is my take on it:

Sorry Mistress, but I took the liberty of flipping the sketch as it worked better with my image - Skull's 'n' Roses Corner. I have also used my Cobweb image to put behind it to act as the rays on the sun part of the sketch. The very back is a floral dp layered onto black bazzil card.

For the ripped part I tore the dp down the side, and stapled it for the crossed bit. Seems I got that a bit wrong there though as the ripped bit should have been right on the edge. Ah well, that what happens when you do a rush job!! Oh, and the dagger is a 'borrowed' image off the net. Here is the sketch anyhow:

Hope you get to join in with us this time, I know sketches aren't everyone's cup of tea, but why don't you 'give it a stab', groan. Forgive the pun there!

Some challenges -

That Craft Place - Anything Goes
Fat Page and Cards - Anything Goes
Sassy Studio - Use Something Metal (staples)

Honest, it IS summer!

Hiya folks!

I hope you aren't suffering with all the weird weather of late? We have had so much grey stuff recently, the veggies are suffering for it. Not many bees about either. And here we are slap bang in the middle of our great British Summer! Now there's a laugh. We do happen to have some muggy sunshine today though which is a blessing. At least I can get some washing dry on the line!

Speaking of summer, our challenge at Delicious Doodles this fortnight is:

Summer Holidays

This is our last challenge for the summer, as we are taking a well deserved break while all the kids are off and we all head off for some jollies. BUT we will be back in September! We are also losing two DT members, Claire and Jodi. I am sorry to see you go ladies. I've really enjoyed working with you, and have loved your fabulous creations. Wishing you both well in the future!!

For my card today I have used 'Rosalee':

When I think of summertime, I think of the gorgeous fragrance of the lovely roses in the garden. My Mum has always had a bed of Roses, and I remember sniffing those in the summers as a child. Of course I have my own now, which are just coming into their own, albeit a bit late and a bit bedraggled after days of rain.

Anyhow. The card. Made using printed dp's from Just So Scrappy, with inked edges, and some pink bazzil, a huge ribbon bow, gems and pearls.
Rosalee was previously coloured and scanned, so all I did here was print her out again. Cheat huh??!

So there you have it!

Hope you can join us in our last challenge of the season.

Vile Vintage (not!)

Hiya folks!

This week's theme over at Macabre Monday had me scratching my head I'm sad to say. Totally blanked out on this one, I don't know why. I don't think I understood the brief totally either!

HDH140
"Vile Vintage"
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
take something vile and make it appear vintage, or maybe use something vintage that would be considered vile!

Oh dear, this is what I came up with. A new image named 'Thorne',
available on Wednesday in the Delicious Doodles Shop

Not sure what I was thinking, but there isn't anything 'vile' about this creation! I did try making a barbed wire frame to go with her tatt, but failed miserably with that. I went with this vintage style frame instead which is from a digi-kit at Just So Scrappy.

I added some gems and smeared some metallic copper rub-on over it. I printed the corner directly onto the dp, which is also digital. Then I added brown ink before sanding the edges a bit and adding black ink. Then I layered it onto some black card and smeared more rub-on at the edges.

I found a couple of metallic brads which look kinda oldy-worlde and put them on too. The 'fleur-de-lys lacey strip is also digital and got printed onto the dp. I have added some red ink to the dp round the frame to add a bit of richness to it. Looked a bit flat.

'Thorne' is coloured with my usual watercolour pencils, scanned into the compy and printed out for layering up with foam pads. I also printed a couple more flowers to go in the bottom left corner. Just to even things up a bit.

Right, off to sulk in the corner of the dungeon now then. LOL.

Some challenges -

Crafty Catz - Use Metal (brads)
Totally Papercrafts - Use a digi
