Macabre Monday Witchiness

Hiya folks!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was a hectic one designing images, gardening, housework, the usual stuff, lol.

We have a new theme for you at Macabre Monday, and this time we are going all Witchy!

HDH122
"Which Witch Are YOU?"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece that represents YOU at your witchy best. Maybe you like to think of yourself as the wicked step mother type witch, or maybe one of the old crones who live by herself deep in the woods. If you'd rather not represent yourself that way, you can just choose your favorite witch of all time as use her as your muse.

OK! So off I went and designed a new (sort of) Witchy image, and here she is,

'Eva the Witch'

She will be available in the
on Wednesday, along with a flowery image I had done already.

And  here is the card I  made using her:

My layout followed the sketch this week from Sketch Saturday. Dp's are from Just So Scrappy. Ribbon, and gems from my stash. Flower made with a Marianne die, card bits from the bits box and some inky edges. Here is a close-up view of the 'Eva the Witch' image all coloured up using my watercolour pencils:

Hope you can join us this week with all your yummy (or yucky) witches!!

Some Challenges I am entering:

2 Sisters - Anything Goes

A Bit of Progress

Hiya folks!

There was great excitement on Friday as the hubby's new shed was delivered, flat packed of course. It was a bit earlier than expected, by about two weeks! 28 days they said, but it turned up after 13, so that ain't bad service. Blokes were in such a rush though. I had left the side gate open ready - in case they came when I was on the school run - but they arrived while I was here, no knock at the door, just started dumping it round the back without so much as a 'by your leave'! Doesn't look like much when it's like this:

I'm just looking forward to getting a shed to put my garden stuff in, and for potting up plants/seeds.
At the moment all the pots and wee bits are shoved in the middle part of the old shed, along with the bikes and other assorted stuff, so I have to rummage about for most of it. Tools are dotted about all over the place too. Can't do anything about it right now, as concrete will have to be stored in the bit I want to use until hubby gets to do the footings. Hopefully sooner rather than later!

MORE DEETS ON THIS OVER ON MY GARDENING BLOG

Don't think I can do much today outside. Looking a bit like rain, plus I have a load of other things to do, including DT stuff, designing an 'exclusive' image for Crafts and Me, and typing up my Father's book on "Cricket History in the Vale of Berkeley" (yawn!) Oh joy!!

Catch you later folks!

Macabre Monday

Hiya folks!

Monday yet again (doesn't it come round quick?!) and time for this week's theme at

Which this time is:

HDH121
"Garden of Good and Evil"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that illustrates the battle between good and evil that is fought
nightly in the garden of your imagination!
Show us the inhabitants of your garden,
be they gnomes, plant life, fauna, fae, or something else entirely!

Well, I was going to design some ugly bugs, but eventually I came up with this weird offering,

'Emerging':

I printed it out onto A4 card and coloured it with my watercolour pencils before scanning in and printing a few times to get my layers for fussy cutting. Here she is all layered up and put on a card:

I'm afraid the colours don't come across too well. I ran out of good daylight yesterday for my photos, but with a bit of adjusting in photoshop it came out as near as I could get it to the original. Here is a close-up:

I have used one dp, which is a pic of some leaves that I printed out in a brownish red colour. Green cardstock for the base, and for the die-dut border. Yellow pearlescent card for behind the image. Big flower made with TH tattered flowers die and a brad.

The image 'Emerging' will be available in the Delicious Doodles Shop on Wednesday.

Right! Let's see if we can find some challenges to enter!!

All Pink and Foofy!

Hiya folks!!

This is going to be a very quick post, as I have a hectic day scheduled. Got a delivery of topsoil coming in half an hour, then I have to shovel it all from the front of the house to the bottom of the garden at the back.
Don't think I'm going to be up to much this weekend!! lol

OK, so we have a new theme over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge, and this time we are using a colour which I don't get to see very often in my colour palette -

PINK!!!

Luckily it was my Mum's Bday last Saturday, and I had already done a girly card for her, so that is what I am using here. I used two Delicious Doodles images for this card, Rose Corner, and Rosalee.
Here it is:

Papers are from an old Tinker & Co kit. Gems and pearls from the stash, text printed onto paper at the same time as the paper was printed out. A close-up of the Rose Corner, layered up:

And a close-up of the image, fussy cut and layered:

Right, gotta go and get sorted for me delivery, wellies and barrow at the ready!!

Love Lies Bleeding

Hiya folks, Happy Monday!

Hope you're all ready for a new Macabre Monday theme?
This time we are celebrating Valentine's Day tomorrow, in our own warped and twisted way, LOL.

HDH120
"Love Lies Bleeding"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
with depict LOVE in it's deadliest form - blood, angst, turmoil.

So I got my creep on and came up with a new image, which I have named the same as this challenge, Love Lies Bleeding. Here is the card I made with it:

My dp's are digi ones that I have stored on the compy. I coloured the image with my usual watercolour pencils, scanned in and then printed for the layering up. Sentiment added before printing. Added a bit of trim, and a few black pearls, and that was it! Nothing too complicated this time! Here's a closer view:

Ha! Ha! Had the hubby worried anyways. He saw this card yesterday and said 'I'm getting a bit worried about you' (mwahahahaha! So you should be. . .)

This image will be going in the Delicious Doodles Shop on Wednesday.

Itching to get out. . .

Hi all.

I'm bored! Haven't been able to go out in the garden for a couple of days, blooming rain!!! Well, at least it isn't snow, you guys down south can keep it for once!! I did however go out a couple of days ago, but boy! the ground was frozen! After digging loads of compost and organic stuff a few days ago I wanted to tackle the next bit and do some leveling out of the old borders that were behind the wall:

Today however I have had to do inside stuff. The usual housework (ugh!) washing (yawn). A bit of doodling. And I decided it was about time I planted?? up my new microleaf kits. Supposed to take a few days to germinate and I need to wait for them to sprout their first 'true' leaves before I can harvest them.

More deets on my Gardening Blog 'A Scottish Edible Garden'.

TTFN folks!

Gettin' Down and Dirty!

Hey folks!

Hope you are all keeping safe and warm in this cold snap? No snow for us here in NE Scotland (thankfully) but it has been freeeeezing!! Yesterday (Monday) was a gorgeous day, quite tropically warm (for us) so I ventured out and done me some digging over. All those bags of organic compost and manure are now a spit deep. Here's the patch I have done so far:

I had forgotten how painful it is to do this kind of digging. Haven't done it for such a long time and boy did it hurt??!! I even broke a sweat, just shows how warm it was, mind you, I did have my coat on. Need to purchase some more muck to do the rest now. And I think I may run out of topsoil to fill that gaping hole in. The patch might look small in the photo above, but it isn't when you come to dig it! Here's a side shot with it covered in my 'anti cat poop' device, bean sticks!

There I was going to take on an allotment too. Think I'll leave that for a while. But then, we don't have any just yet. I was the Secretary of our local Allotment Society for the last two years, waiting for plots to come up. Waiting for someone to actually get on and do something other than just me. . .That didn't happen, so I have stepped down now.

What a complete farce that is too! After an initial meeting two years ago, a small group of locals found ourselves made into a 'steering group', with myself being volunteered into the Secretary job. Funny isn't it, how everyone wants something, but no-one puts up their hand to help it happen?! That stayed all the way through until now. What with the lack of interest in anyone chasing up leads and things, our last AGM having only six people turn up, the committee ending up being made up of those six people (lord knows how that works with a constitution in place) I just got pee'd off with it all and jacked it in.

That's when I decided to rip my garden to shreds and start again, making it into my own 'sort of' allotment. There is a site now though, only proposed, and not legally theirs yet. It's an open field, very stoney half way up a hill with a pine forest next door. Have fun with that folks, hope the fence is rabbit and deer proof!!

No bunny problems for me, just cats!

Freakers Free For All

Hiya folks!

Happy Monday morning to you all. Hope you are all coping with the flurry of snow you had down south? (UK) We managed to miss out for a change up here in NE Scotland, phew! Lovely and sunny today. Let's hope it stays that way for a while and we all get to catch up on some much needed vitamin D!!

OK, so Monday is Macabre Monday Challenge Day, and this week is an anything goes one:

HDH119
"Freaker's Free-for-All"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
with no restrictions.
That's right... the Mistress has been slacking, so everyone gets to benefit with a laid-back, no-holes-barred, do-WTF-ever-you-want challenge!

Not one to use the same image twice (very often) I just had to do something new for it. Which unfortunately made get a bit behind with my schedule, so I was a wee bit late adding my piccie to the challenge post, but it's there now folks! And here it is:

The first new image I designed is Raven Goddess (coloured with graphite pencil), followed by Celtic Raven Corner. I have also used an older image for the frame, Celtic Frame2.
Here is a close-up of the Raven Goddess:

I used spotty textured bazzill for the main backing, no dp's today! Mounted onto some pearlescent purple cardstock and made into an easel card. The corners are punched with an MS loopy punch. I have added some purple brads in a few corners, and dug my black feathers out of the cupboard too! Here is the Celtic Raven Corner:

Oh deary me, this last photo is a bit blurry! Not good. Camera must have focused on something other than what I was looking at. . . Anyroadup, I have no links to the images yet, as they will be going into the Delicious Doodles Shop on Wednesday, so keep your eyes peeled for them peeps!

Going to be a funny kind of day today. I have both my girls home from school, one with a sore throat, the other with an upset tummy, so it's going to be interesting to say the least. Just hope I don't catch both at the same time. . .!

Right, lets see if I can find some challenges to fit this in then.

Catch the Bug - Anything Goes
Crafty Emma - Wings and/or sketch

All Loved Up

Hiya folks!

Bbbbrrrr, it's blooming chilly today. Lovely start with the sun shining and a wee bit of frost. Minus four it was just before the school run but warming a bit now thankfully!

We have a nice, warm and loving theme for you this time at
All Loved Up
So time to get out all those love hearts peeps!

I just had to use one of my cutie images this time, in the shape of Valentine Kitty,
and have teamed it up with Loving Corner (rotated) on this card:

I printed the corner onto the backing dp which came with a lacey border. Had to cut round that though to make it show on the red cardstock. Snippey-snip-snip!! I printed out Valentine Kitty and coloured the heart with the usual watercolour pencils, then just dabbed Kitty's face and paws with some ink. I raised the image on some foam pads for a bit of depth.

I added some red pearls in the top corner, and some red heart gems in the bottom corner, then tied a bow and added a cobbled together charm using some jewellery offcuts and leftovers. That big filigree heart was on a necklace I found whilst shopping with Mum when I visited last. It was on offer at a fiver and had six big charms on it, so I had to nab that one!

Right, off to make a start on the kids curtains. Got to make them myself, as the windows are in the roof line (vellux) and it's very awkward to get things to fit that don't sag in the middle (know the feeling!) So I fitted some strips top and bottom yesterday, and the curtain will hang stretched between them (hopefully). I saw that idea on a narrow boat years ago when hubby and I had a holiday on one.
Let's hope the idea works for me. . .!
