Phew, got away with nothing more than a bit of gusty wind and a couple of damp splodges (lol). Now the sun is out but still a bit blowy now and again. Hope you guys down south (in the UK) are all still in one piece after that storm? It seemed to pass us by after all the build up from the weather folk on telly. Sparing a few thoughts for the poor flooded out peeps, so close to Xmas too :(
On to this week's theme at the Delicious Doodles Challenge, which this time is 'Something that Flies'. Nice and easy right? Must be 'cause I actually got off my butt and made something for it!! lol.
I did promise some nicer Christmassy images after that nasty Santa one the other week didn't I?
I have used some lovely textured cardstock in purple for the base and the flowers, layered with pearlescent white, gold mirri, and some dp's off the compy, including a lilac coloured snowflake one from my Snowflake Papers set.
I used punches for the flowers, with offcuts of the cardstock, and added pearls for their centres. I smeared metallic gold rub-on over the card edges, and the flower petals too for a bit of extra bling. I added some clear stickles to the white cardstock in the background, and also to my image in places (including her eyes and the snowflake - you'll have to look at the closeup piccie to see properly)
I also put some stickles and a gem on the big snowflake, and added more pearls and gems to the cardin the corners. Finally I added a huge hand-tied bow with a pearl on top.
Here is that closeup piccie, you can JUST about see the sparkle in her eyes:
Angelique was coloured with my usual watercolour pencils before being scanned back into the compy and printed off for fussy-cutting and layering up with foam pads.
I bought myself Serif Craft Artist2 last week, so I am trying to find some time to play with that and make up some papers and Decoupage (Pyramage) sheets. I mentioned it the other day after uploading a freebie paper, which was my first attempt at it, bit simple but not too shabby for a first attempt!
I am currently testing out a Pyramage sheet with my DT girls, so we'll see how that pans out as to whether or not I offer them in the shop in future.
As a matter of interest, would anybody out there buy them if I did offer them up?
Anyway - off to play, oh, and do some (swear word) housework (UGH!)
How are you all keeping these days? Hope all is well where you are.
Things are fine up here in Bonny Scotland, albeit a tad windy! lol.
The new job is going fine, much as I'd rather be at home doodling at that time of the day. I won't say I am enjoying it, after all, how CAN you enjoy washing up for four hours four times a week. . .?? I tolerate it for the sake of the bank balance, nothing more. Shame my doodling pennies are not enough to live on really.
Anyhoooose, enough moaning and on to the make I have for you! YES - I have made something AGAIN - can't be bad huh? lol.
The image is coloured with watercolour pencils, scanned in and printed a few times for layering up with foam pads. The dp is an old Tinker & Co one I have had for ages. Sorry can't supply a link as they are no longer around I'm sad to say. Cardstock and gems from the stash.
The sentiment 'Festive Greetings!' is a typeface I found whilst searching for Christmassy text on the net.
A bit of stickles and that is it - nice and simples!
Right, I'm REALLY behind now. Just spent two days sorting out six months worth of paperwork (sigh). Got me another make to get on with which has been waiting for days sat on the printer. MUST get on with some more doodles too!!
I bought me some new software yesterday in the shape of Serif Craft Artist2 from Daisy Trail. It looks like a lot of fun, if only I can get my thick head round it, lol.
I'm not doing too bad at the mo, had a wee play this morning after finishing up an Emo image for next Wednesday's release.
I used some poppies from my Poppyimage I have in the shop and made up a digital designer paper with it. It's rather simple as yet, but I decided to pop it here as a FREEBIE for all my followers as a Thank You for all the lovely comments you leave for me, so here you are folks!
Oh, it's a bit large in file size, so it may take a minute to download.
(Click on the image, then right click and save to your compy)
I so wish my kids were all grown up, then I could do a really alternative Christmas.
I'm not really a Christmas kind of gal. I don't hold it against anybody what they believe in, we all have different thoughts and faiths. That's what makes the world such an amazing place. I just HATE it when other peoples' beliefs are rammed down my throat without my approval. And I am happy to say that my kids are getting to be that way too. 'Each to their own', as they say, but LEAVE ME OUT OF IT! lol.
Sorry if this offends anyone, but it's just my thoughts and feelings. You carry on with your beliefs, just don't knock on my door and spout scripture at me and mine. Hee-heee!
Don't get me wrong! I was brought up with Christian values, and I try to install them in my children. Knowing right from wrong, feeling empathy for fellow humans and animals alike. Respect and all that. I just don't think we all need to be so zealous, obsessed or 'over the top' with it.
Anyway, I'm ranting here - ooopsies!
I popped by to upload a couple of Christmas, but NOT Christmas makes.
If you are easily offended please don't look any further, you WON'T like it!!!!
So, first up, something not too offensive in the shape of a Pagan style Christmas Tree wrapped with a snake and decked with skullies using my Delicious Doodles image,
Hmmm, not a great photo, a bit bleached out even though it was NOT sunny!
I used some pearlescent red card, black card, dp from the compy Spellbinders dies, gems and pearls from my stash, a gorgeous trim with big flowers that I found on ebay, and some sparkly red stickles. Here's a closer view:
My image was coloured with the usual watercolour pencils before being scanned and printed ready for fussy cutting and layering up with foam pads
Next up then is an alternative wreath for lovers of all things skully.
How are you all keeping this fine and sunny day? (for a change, lol)
I thought I would pop by and show you what I have created. Just for a change I used a nice image and made a not-so-dark card front using my Snow Cuddles image.
I really enjoyed making this one, although in the end it took over a month to get done!! 'A Month??!!' I hear you gasp - yes folks, I AM that slack! I had the image all coloured up, scanned in, and printed out along with the dp's off my compy, BUT it sat there for weeks gathering dust as I lost the 'ooomph' to get on with it.
However, on Tuesday I got off my butt and made the thing, and in the end I had fun.
Like I said previously, DP's are off the compy and coloured to match the cardstock and her cloak. The frame is a lovely new spellbinders die that I bought a month or so ago. The flower is made with punches, and I added inky edges and stickles to the petals, and a big yellow gem for the centre. The central ribbon is from my stash, the big bow is handtied and is from an xmas ornament that I won't ever use, so it's kind of recycled! Corner gems from the stash, as are the wee gems I put in the snowflakes.
So there you have it folks!
Hope you like it after the length of time it took me to make! lol
I'll leave you with a different angle shot:
Oh, and a mention of the new Challenge theme over at the
