No Squares at TCPF

Hiya folks!

Just a quickie from me today - busy - busy!!

Our new theme over at The Crafty Purple Frog is NO squares - oh dear! Had to get thinking, as I don't do many shapes. I saw someone use a nestie to make a card a while back, so I got my little oval scalloped one out and made a blank shape with it. Then I put ink round the edges and dotted some dimension paint on too.

I fussy cut my image - Kimono Rainbow Mermaid Pyrimage - and put her on the blank, adding some stickles for a bit of bling, and that was it! Rather a small card though, as my oval nesties weren't big ones! LOL

Off to do the weekly grocery shop now then, in the pouring rain - ugh!

Hope you can join us this time - see you there peeps!

New Releases and a Card

Hiya folks!

*** warning - image-heavy post!!***

Can't believe it's Wednesday again! It sure comes round quick doesn't it?! LOL

So that means some more New Releases to the Delicious Doodles Shop - yeay!

First up then, I had a special request from one of my DT ladies to do an Angel with Baby, and this is what I came up with, loosly based on the 'Mother Mary' image I did at Christmas time:

I have also made a card using this image - you can catch all the deets below. . .

Next up, I have done some Vase images to go with some of the floral designs in the Shop. I have purposely left them blank so you can do some paper-piecing with them, so here they are -

And last but by no means least, a Small Butterfly:

Perfect to add to your Summertime designs!

Keep those piccies coming peeps - I love seeing what you create with my images

Don't forget I will be displaying them here after 8th April, so get yours in along with your post link and I'll do the rest!!

Now for the deets on the card above.

After designing the image, I printed her out and coloured her in using my trusty watercolour pencils before scanning back into the compy and printing three pics off to layer up.

I have used papers that I bought the other week from Designer Digitals. I have smudged ink on the edges of these, and have layered the one under the image onto some gold mirri. I got some netting that I had left over when I cut up my old head-dress, and tied that round the card, and put a punched flower on the top, with a brad through to secure it all. The dots on the flower are done with gold dimension paint.

When assembled I put some stickles over the Angel and splodged it round a bit with my finger, as I didn't want it to look all liney as it does when it come out of the bottle. Finishing touches were the pearls in the corners. Just added that bit of 'something' that was lacking.

Hope you like it peeps!

Now for some challenges -

Paper Cutz - 3 x Designer papers
Party Time Tuesday - Anything plus hand-made flower
Anything Goes Challenge - hand made embellishments (flower)
Ladybug Crafts Challenge - Handmade flowers
Stamping Boutique - Handmade flowers
Make It Monday - Anything

Pack a Punch at SPS

Hiya folks!

It's a lovely wet day today here in NE Scotland - ugh! What happened to Spring??

I have a few dainty flowers to keep me going though, on this gift box I made for the
Our theme this time is 'Punches', so I got out me flowery ones and me Dragonfly and Butterfly one and punched away! Then I remembered I had to have a Sweet Pea Stamp on it - Duh!!

I coloured in this little lady, Ching Chou-Kuik's 'Spring Moony Night', with my watercolour pencils, and fussy cut her out to stick to the front of my box. Found a great template for this make from Papertray Ink.

I started off with just some white card to cut the shapes out from the template, as it was my first attempt. Didn't want to faff up any lovely cardstock did I?? LOL. But it came out OK, so I proceeded to cover up the panels with some dusky dark pink bazzill and a printed DP that has been in my bits box for a year or two!!

I used up a bit more of my sparkly metallic pink ribbon on the inside just to bling it up a bit, and then added all my punched shapes and popped some gems on too. The big flowers also have some stickled edges and dots for a bit more bling.

This all comes together with a couple of tabs that tuck in, but I had to figure out how they would go inside when I had put some card there. Didn't want the tabs to show, and they would have got jammed under the inner box shape too if I hadn't left a space unstuck for them.

Managed to bodge that bit though, so all is well with the world! LOL.

OK, I'm off clothes shopping with my eldest two today (yawn!) They had some vouchers from their Nanny to spend in Matalan. Trouble is the youngest will feel left out, as she had clothes sent for her instead of vouchers. So that means I'll end up spending more dosh myself. . . Shame it wasn't being spent on crafting goodies!!

Hope you guys can join us at Sweet Pea Stampers this time! See you there peeps!

Other Challenges -

Flutterby Wednesday - Open (butterfly punches)
Creative Inspirations - No square cards
Fab 'n' Funky - More than one fold
Stamp Insanity - Punches

Floral Fantasy

Hiya folks!

Hope all is well with you today? Spring is busy springing in the UK, bit slower up here in NE Scotland though. Due to get cold again for the weekend - lovely! LOL

Still, my card is a bit warmer! Our new theme over at the
Delicious Doodles Challenge is 'Floral Fantasy',
so get all those flowers out peeps!!
We also have a wonderful sponsor in the shape of our own Pascale with her paper sets from
Pascale's Pad. I have used this gorgeous Valentine Rose design on my card, as it ties in fabulously with my
Vase of Roses image.

Now, I had a bit of a 'happy accident' with my colouring on the image. I started of just doing a light colouring as I wanted the sketchiness of the image to show through, but it looked awful when it was dry, so flat and yucky! So I went over it with a bit more colour, and then fiddled some more with trying to get some highlights into it. I thought 'should have just left it as black and white', but after scanning into the compy, tweaking the contrast a bit and printing out, it looks OK after all, kind of vintage watercolour-looking.

Anyroadup, I cut the first layer out with a scalloped circle nestie and inked the edges before placing that on a very pale pink paper from Pascale's Pad. I fussy cut two more layers and then stickled the petals for a bit more definition. This in turn was layered onto the gorgeous Rose paper. I made a flower using my usual punches, curled the petals, inked and stickled them and added a wee gem for its centre. Have also popped thre eyelets in the top left corner to even up the feel of the card.

I hand-tied a large red ribbon bow - the ribbon was recycled from my Christmas Choccie pressie, and the pin was also recycled. Been saving that one for a very long time and could never figure out where to put it until now, but as it has a green head I decided it would fit in here. I also made a dangly charm from bits and pieces I got in jewellery sales.

I think I may just send this one to my Mum for Mothers Day. Think I will make a presentation box to go with it too, maybe even splash out and buy some choccies for her. Won't be much, as it costs a fortune in the post. Wish she was closer - five hundred miles is rather a long trip in the car, especially with three kids!!

Hope you guys can join us at the Delicious Doodles Challenge this week - remember, two chances to win!!
See you there peeps!

New Releases at Delicious Doodles

Hiya folks!

It's New Release Day over in the
Delicious Doodles Shop

Continuing from last week's releases, these also have an underwater theme. I had me a bit of an urge to do a Mermaid image - my very first one ever!! LOL.

So here she is, 'Swimming with Dolphins':

I also did just the 'Dolphin' by itself:

I couldn't leave it at that, so I drew a little corner piece to go with them, complete with a little fishy too!!

And finally - your project would not be complete without a 'Bubble Border'.

You could also use the corner piece and border with 'Seahorses' or 'Leaping Dolphins' which were both released last week:

Hope you guys can use these to make some gorgeous projects!

Don't forget I'd love to see what you do make using Delicious Doodles images.
I will be displaying Customer Creations on the DD Blog in the second week of the month every month, April being the next one - so get your piccies in before 8th April, not forgetting to put your blog addy in your email.

Oh, and please put a something in the title space on your emails, I have been getting spam emails from names that are known on blogger, but with suspicious links in the text, so if you do send me something, then please add some blurb and not just a link to your blog page! Many thanks peeps!!

Aaaaah, Bunnies!!

Hiya folks!

Hope all is well where you are today? Sun is out here in NE Scotland, yeay! Hubby has taken eldest two down to Edinburgh to see the Rugby. Hope they win - been an abysmal 6 nations for us this year, everything crossed!!

Hazel is a bit better today, although there is still a wierd bug lurking. The cough has eased up, but she just drops off to sleep all of a sudden. Thursday she had two or three snoozy sessions. She managed the whole day without one yesterday, but was out for the count by 8.30 all night until about 9am today, and was all cold and sweaty in bed. Wierd stuff!!

Anyways. On a more cheerful note, I have a wee make for you featuring my newest image 'On the Lookout', which I loaded into the Delicious Doodles Shop yesterday for all those keen Easter/Spring cardmakers out there.

Been meaning to do some bunnies for ages, probably since last easter actually, so I thought it was about time I got off me butt and sketched some! LOL. So here is the card I made with them:

My yellow paper is from Funky Hand - 'I Do Wordbook', but I tweaked it to make it yellow as it was a neutral colour originally. Had the green one for ages on the compy without making a note of the make, so sorry about that! Sentiment is printed on the yellow paper before adding to the card.

To the side I have used bazzil card and used an MS punch on the pink bit, with smudged pink ink on the edges. On top of that I have used up the last bit of felt flower border that I got from the local craft shop. I put some wee yellow gems in the centre of the felt flowers for a bit of bling, and added some green ones to the top right of the card too. Bottom right I added some little flower brads that I have had forever! Last job was to add an organza bow to the top left, and some yellow stickles round the frame.

Righty then, need to get on with other stuff now. Might even treat the wee one to a snack up the local garden centre, followed by the chip shop for tea later, seeing as it's just us two and I can't be arsed to cook for one and a bit!! LOL

TTFN peeps - have a great weekend!

Pixie Dust - use green
Creative Card Crew - use green
Paper Shelter - Spring Fling
Fab 'n' Funky - use green

Something Different. . .

 . . . For me it is anyways . . .

Hiya folks!

Hope you are all keeping well? Thank you all for your best wishes for the wee one. She still has her annoying cough, but it is easing slightly. Had to keep her off school as they don't like kids to go in and spread the germs - makes me laugh that does, when you think they don't use bleach any more to clean the surfaces!

Well, today sees the start of a new theme at the Delicious Doodles Challenge, and this time we want to see a 3 Dimensional project. I know - Panic Mode!!!  Usually I hate doing 3D other than my usual layered cards or the odd box when I have to, but I pushed out the boat with this one and made myself a decent box to put my beady bits and charms in.

This started it's life as a couple of 'Cadbury's Chocolate Mini Rolls' boxes, which were just plain white, but fairly sturdy. I covered them in a load of thick Mulberry paper that I have had hanging about for years and never used (yeay!). This was then painted in three coats of acryllic black paint before adding the ornate feet, which are Tim Holtz.

Had to research these, as I wans't sure if I could get any feet for craft stuff, but I found them - pretty steep in the price department though, so this box is staying with me! Also had to buy some hinges and a clasp, but got them cheap enough on ebay. So, after attaching all the hardware I smudged metallic rub-on over the whole thing, and varnished with Satin quick drying stuff that doesn't stink the place out!

Then I printed out a wee image - my Beastly Bat-erfly, in black on a gold coloured background, snipped round, glued in place and varnished over the lid again to protect it.

Later on I think I will find me some velvet for a lining, and then get some of those wee 'favour bags' to seperate my charms and beads before putting them in the box.

Hope you guys don't get frightened off this week! After all - what is a challenge if it isn't challenging??

Not many other challenges out there for this box, but here goes with the ones I have found:

Paper Cutz - Open choice
AiFactory - Things with Wings
Stamp Insanity - Metallic stuff, or gold
Ambers Crafts + Stuff - Use old stash/Anything goes
Bling It On - Anything goes

This is a sketched style image, and would match perfectly with the 'Driftwood Border' already in the Shop!

Next up, a cute image of a couple of little 'Seahorses' with their tails intertwined - aaaaahhh, lovely. . .

Can't wait to see what gorgeous colours you use for this one!

Have a great day peeps!

Cupcake Fairy

Hiya folks!

How you all keeping? Hope you are all well today?

Thought I would pop by with this little make that I did for my D2's B'day today. She is a whopping SEVEN now - where do the years go?? Only seemed like yesterday that I was shoving her out! LOL Not that she's too happy a bunny right now. She came down with a nasty cough over the weekend, which got worse on Monday. Couldn't stop all day, and it's only just starting to ease off now, but very gradually. Poor wee fluff, she was desperate not to be ill on her birthday. Just hope the tonne of pressies cheered her up a bit!

Anyway, here is the card I made. It was meant to be just for the sake of it, but I completely ran out of time to make a special card for her b'day, so decided to use this as the one for that:

I have used my 'Cupcake Fairy' image for this one, and lots of girly pink, as she loves all things pink! I did colour the wings in more of an orangey colour though. Even the icing on the cupcake is pink. Left the Strawberry on the top as red - would look daft with a pink strawberry!!

I have also used my 'Simple Butterfly' image, printed onto patterned dp and fussy cut. The flowers as usual are made with spare card and punches, with gems for their centres. Also added some big pink gems to follow the sketch which is from Craft Your Passion.

Got to admit - I'd love that cupcake right now!! LOL

Will have to wait for the party food tonight though - be good Mum!!

Some more challenges:

Wild Orchid - Dies and Punches
Papertake - Three (flowers/butterflies)
Delightful Challenges - Butterflies
DCM - Home Baked (flowers, and the digi!)
Sugar Creek Hollow - Handmade Flowers
Magical Monday - Spring Colours

Scallops at Sweet Pea Stampers

Hiya folks!

Another chilly one today in NE Scotland. No snow as yet, but it is forecast for later. BET you they get it wrong again and we have nothing but slush!! LOL

Yesterday saw the start of a new theme at Sweet Pea Stampers, and this time we want to see your Scallops!

I made an easel card for mine, using a Ching Chou Kuik image 'The Serene Night', and coloured her with 'spring' colours. Just loving turquoise at the moment, so I used up my last bit of bazzill in that colour. MUST go get some more, but I'll have to wait until pennies allow :(

I used my framability die for the scallops bit, using gold mirri, but it was a bit big for the stamp, so I also used a bit of patterned paper behind the image. I used left over bits for the flowers, which are made using punches, and I used some wee gems for some bling.

Hope you can join us this time peeps!

Challenges I am entering:

Gingerloft - Flowers

Green for Saint Patrick

Hiya folks!!

Bbbbbbrrrr, it's still chilly up here in NE Scotland, but at least the sun is shining today. Yesterday was horrible, sleet and wind, the odd snow flurry - yuck! Too cold to get me washing out today - it would come back as stiff as a board! LOL

So, Friday today, and that means a new challenge over at Delicious Doodles! This week, in honour of it being Saint Patrick's Day next Thursday, we have gone all green. I hope you can join us this time, doesn't need to be a St. Pat's project, just as long as it's green!

I have me some Irish blood, from many generations ago, so I did a St.Pat's card with a wee Leprechaun's Face and a Guinness Glass on. I made it suitable for a male too. Not that it makes any difference, as I haven't got anyone to send it to.

My papers are from the stash on me compy - I made the shamrock one myself using photoshop brushes. The sentiment is an Irish one, meaning 'good health' or something like that. I wanted it to say 'Cheers' or similar, and this is what the online translator came up with, so that's what I used!

Added some metallic green brads in the corner, and some emerald organza ribbon behind the image panel. The digi's were coloured with the usual watercolour pencils. No extra layers here, I kept it simple as I am pushed for time this week. Honestly don't know where it goes to - oh, yes I do - I'm always on the compy!! LOL

Speaking of which - I need to scan me in a new image and get it digitised for the shop, so I'll catch ya later peeps!!

Some challenges -
Corrosive - Green
Crafty Emmas - St. Patrick's
Totally Gorjuss - Sketch (rotated)
Simon Says - Anything Goes
Creative Card Crew - NO flowers
Colour Create - Greens, Black, Brown, Cream
MAWTT - Male Card
Paper Play - Green

Springtime Snowdrops

Hiya folks!

Ugh, spring has left us! It's turning cold, the wind has picked up, it's grey and there is a threat of snow!! YUCK!

And here I was thinking Spring had sprung, all the wee flowers popping out, my seeds sprouting in their trays, birdies chirping. They'll be tucked up in their nests today for sure! Talking of wee flowers, my garden is brimming with lovely Snowdrops right now, and primroses, and iris flowers and crocus. So pretty - hope they don't get blown away!

I had a request the other day for a retirement card with my Snowdrops image on it, and this is what I made:

Personally I would have used green to go with the flowers, but my customer wanted blues, so that's what she's got! I made one similar to this not so long ago, so I just used the same stuff on the computer, but changed the colours, and added the sentiment, bow and charm as requested. Hope she likes it!

Now, there are a few 'Spring' challenges out there right now, so I am entering this card into these:

Creative Inspirations - In the Garden
Fab 'n' Funky - Spring
Delightful Challenges - Welcome Spring
Cute Card Thursday - Signs of Spring
S4TW - Springtime
The Pink Elephant - Springtime
Totally Papercrafts - Pearls and Lace

Make Your Own!

Hiya folks!

Many thank you's for all your well wishes for my little one after her fall down the stairs Wednesday evening.

She is doing well and is back at school. She has a 'half cast' with plaster on the top and padding beneath, and a sling to carry in. It wasn't a bad break after all, although I did have to phone the hospital as they forgot to phone me with the X-ray results - slackers!! She has a check up next Thursday and 'take it from there'.

Right, to business then folks! LOL

It's a new theme at the Delicious Doodles Challenge, and this week we want you to:

'Make the card/project YOU want to recieve'

whether it is for your birthday, wedding anniversary, whatever - as long as it's what you would like to get!
Sounds like fun huh?

This week as well as the usual digi-prize from the Delicious Doodles Shop, we are also being sponsored by the wonderful
with this fabulous prize:

How cool is that peeps!!??

I wanted to combine a few challenges with this project, so I hope I have met the criteria for them! I plumped for a design that I am finding is a favourite at the mo, the twisted easel card, but I also made a matching presentation box to go with it. After all, with all the dimension, it wouldn't do to have it squashed in the post!!

I decided also to have a wee break from purple! LOL. I know purple is my fav, but you gotta change it up now and again haven't you? So I chose to use some papers by Funky Hand, a downloaded set named 'Minty Madness'. I matched up the darkest colour in that set by using grey with some black. Sorry - had to use black seeing as I'm not using purple. . .!! LOL

The main image is a brand new one released to the Delicious Doodles Shop this week, named

And I also used the Nouveau Border, and put little grey gems on the corners. The Fairy image is 'as it comes', no extra colouring here. I did however add some stickles for a bit of glitz.

I wanted to combine a 'Nouveau' style with a 'Gothic' style, as I love both of these. Gothic is my most favourite, with Nouveau being a VERY close second. Not sure if it worked or not, I'll let you guys be the judge of that. . .!

All the frew-frew here is hand-made. The flowers and leaves are made with punches and Marianne Dies, with the petals being inked, smudged with metallic rub-on, and curled. I added some more of those little grey gems for their centres.

The large organza bow is hand-tied, and I made the dangly charm using more recycled 'bits' from the bargain bin at Boots the Chemist, including the feather and the big droplet (both from a pair of earrings).

The matching box was made by printing the papers and white writing panel onto white card, with spare bits printed and cut out for the side panels. I made this one up by myself using my old score-board and a few pieces of A4 paper to practice with first. Took a few goes to get the right size for the card, but got there in the end! Must say I am quite chuffed at how this project turned out!

I'll leave you with another pic of the finished product. TTFN folks!
