Last Halloween Offering

Hiya folks.

Happy Halloween!!

I decided to make one last creation for Halloween, featuring my fav little bug - the Baterfly. This card doesn't really smack of Halloween to me. I had visions of a spooky/horrid thing, but at least it turned out a bit gothic in the end. Ah well. . .

My Baterfly was coloured with watercolour pencils, scanned to the pooter and printed in bits to form the layers. The wings are moulded with the back of a bone folder to get the curves. I have used foam pads for some extra dimension.

For the backing I have used my shapabilities 'fleur-de-lys' die and layered it onto the same orange card as the base cardstock. This was grunged up with some black ink. I have also used some MS corner punches, 'cobweb' and 'iron railings'. The purple layer is some core-dinations embossed and scratched up. Made a boo-boo in the bottom left corner. Scratched too keenly and the point came off!! Ooopsies! Bit of a happy accident though, adds to the distressed look.

The flower is done with my usual flower punches, stickles and a black pearly bit. You can only just see it, but I have used a corner bit from my 'Halloween Border' underneath the flower instead of the usual punched leaves.

This creation fits a few challenges:
Flutterby Wednesday - Purple, Orange and Black
(not sure if the baterfly counts?)
Penny's Challenges - Black, Purple and Orange
Pixie Dust Studio - Halloween or Orange and Black
Crafty Catz - Halloween
Daring Cardmakers - Halloween
Secret Crafter - Anything that flies

Phew - just a couple then. Didn't realise there were so many! Right off to make some lunch now. Then it's on the the Christmas doodles.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for
Friday 19th November peeps!
Delicious Doodles is starting up a

Bit of a Quicky

Hiya folks!

Can you believe it, Friday already?!! Almost Halloween, D no2 has her school disco tonight, so I'll be slapping on the red make-up later (on her, not me!!) Oh what fun!

I have here a quick card I made for my Dad's birthday next Tuesday. It's in the post already, and he doesn't read blogs, so won't be seeing it here. I always struggle with cards for my Dad. It usually ends up being sport-related, as that's what he's most into.

So this time I settled on a cricket theme. He is currently writing a book about a few of the local cricket teams over the ages where he lives in the Vale of Berkeley (Gloucestershire). I scoured the net for a piccie that was vintage in style. I could have drawn one, but the mojo isn't there for cricket I'm afraid. Maybe one day I'll get an inspired flash and do something for it.

I found one in the end, a bit fuzzy but it'll do. I teamed it up with papers from Tinker & Co, one of their old sets 'Pause for thought'. I added a sentiment to the base card before printing. No extra layers today as it is being posted so I don't need to spend extra. Not that I'm skimping on my Dad's birthday, but he is 500 miles or so away and postage isn't that cheap any more!

Just hope he likes it!

Right. Off to try and come up with some an image for a request. Bit stumped but hopeful. . .oh, and I need to gouge out my pumpkin ready for the kids to cut later. Busy old day shaping up. . .!!

See ya peeps!

Jungle Fun and a sketch

Hiya folks!

Hope I find you all well today? Had a bit of a shock yesterday, went to Tesco to see if they had any nice sweaters/cardi's for winter, only to find that shoulder pads are back!! Ugh! Thought we had seen the last of those in the eighties! Looks like I'll be going cold if that's all there is to choose from! Off to Matalan today, maybe they have something more suitable.

So, on to my card today then. This is my last DT piece at The Creative Cottage (sniff). Like I said yesterday, I need to spend more time developing my business, and with the family, so I have had to give up some DT work. I have totally loved my stay at The Creative Cottage, such a bunch of lovely ladies, with some really fabulous kits to work with. I'll miss you peeps!!  Talking of fab kits, you really need to pop across to Tracey's store, she has loads of new goodies for you, including this gorgeous Jungle Fun Kit:

Now, I am being naughty again, and am combining this weeks EMBOSSING challenge at The Creative Cottage Challenge, with the new challenge at The Sisterhood, which is this here sketch provided by own own lovely Kim:

And this is the card I made:

This uses papers and a topper from the Jungle Fun Full Kit, but you can buy the papers, toppers, alphas and border seperately if you like. The cardstock was printed with one of the papers which I smudged with black in round the edges. I printed off the zebra stripe and a wee stripey border, which is sort of covered by the stripey brads (from the stash). I used the alphas for the sentiment (which says Hi!) The Zebra face is cut from one of the toppers and raised up on foam pads.

My embossing is the white patch of card with embossed dots, which I smudged more black ink over. I used a wee heart punch and some sizzix dies for the heart shapes, two of which I also raised up. I am entering this into the challenge at Allsorts this week which is 'Spots and Stripes'.

I hope you can join us in both challenges. EMBOSSING at The Creative Cottage, and our SKETCH at The Sisterhood. See you there folks!

One Last Hoorah at Tuesday Taggers

Hiya folks!

Hope I find you well today? Bit of a mixed bag of feelings for me this week. Very happy of course that my wee digi-image shop is doing well, and that I have decided to bring forward the creation of a new challenge blog involving Delicious Doodles. But it is with great sadness that I have had to give up a few of my DT commitments so that I can focus on the business and the family too.

So, as it is Tuesday, I am having one last 'HOORAH for Halloween' along with my teamies at Tuesday Taggers. This week's challenge was set by Lyn, aka Blackdragon, and is for Halloween with Deep Purple. Now, I couldn't pass up the opportunity this year of doodling Mr Death himself, so here he is in all his grey-ness, please give it up for -
The Grim Reaper!!

Sorry, bit of showbiz pizzazz there, LOL. You can get him now in the shop, just in time for those last minute Halloween party invites! What about the sentiment 'This party needs YOU!' to go with him?? tee-hee!!

I made a simple card with him, teamed with my lovely new 'Edge Around the Page' punch set, Iron Railings. Lovely Gothic look to them, I couldn't resist buying them with my winnings the other week at Simon Says. Used these on some core-dinations card that I had embossed and distressed with sandpaper. Smudged some metallic rub-on over it too, and round the edges. This was layered onto some purple core-dinations that I scratched up a bit and smeared black ink onto. Also smudged some rub-on around the edge of the black cardstock, and used the corner punch from that set.

Mr Reaper comes as a sketched image, but here I added more grey and black with my watercolour pencils, then layered him up with foam pads. I purposely left the scythe unglued at the point to make it look curved. Not sure if that bit works.

So that's it!
One last Hoorah for Tuesday Taggers
and one last Hoorah for Halloween.
Go out with a bang I say!

Been an absolute pleasure working with you girls! I'll miss you - may even find some time to play, who knows - don't be strangers now!!

Some challenges I am entering all with a Halloween theme:

Haunted Design House - Smeared and Smudged
CRAFT - Spooky
Crafty Catz - Black, White plus one other colour

A 'Fairy' Merry Christmas

Hiya folks!

Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was quiet with hubby being away, apart from the kids with their usual noise, LOL. Still didn't get half of what I had planned done. Lord knows where the time goes these days, must be getting old or something. . .

I do have a card for you though, which took me blooming days to make!! Mostly because of all the fiddling I did with my backing papers. I made my own using a coloured version of my Poinsettia image and a scanned in texture using my old wallpaper. You can't see that bit too well, as it is covered in the image!

Talking of images, I am showcasing one of my newest doodles here, the 'Poinsettia Fairy', complete with little fairy sidekick! LOL  Here it is in black and white:

And here is the finished card:

Like I said, I used my own backing paper to start with, accompanied by some papers from an Artylicious cd. My layout follows the sketch from this week's Friday Sketchers. I coloured my image with watercolour pencils, scanned it, and printed it for my fussy-cut layers. Finishing touches are some stickles and gems in the corners.

Simple really, so why did it take so long?? Wish I knew!! As usual I have a few challenges to enter:
Stamp Something - Use Digi's
Bee Crafty - Christmas
Totally Gorjuss - Sparkle
Crafty Pad - Christmas

Righty then. Need to catch up on the housework before the hubby gets home this afternoon. See you later folks!

Easels at Sweet Pea Stampers

Hiya folks!

Phew, made it here at last!! What a day, had to get up early to make a dentist run. D no2 had to have a tooth extracted after an absess was found under it, so she's full of misery now. Then I had to make a quick dash back home (20 minutes by car) to pick the rest of the family up and get hubby to the bus station. He's off on a family reunion come anniversary party (shame we couldn't all go!) Plus he get to visit the hospitality suite at the local rugby match on Saturday - Gloucester vs Harlequins. Alright for some eh?!!

Still, at least I get to have the compy to myself all weekend, and no snoring to contend with - yeay!!

Right, whinge over, onto my card today, which is my DT piece for Sweet Pea Stampers. This time we are after your Easel Card creations. These are proving very popular at the moment, so we are hoping this challenge will have loads of entries.

I decided to do oriental this time, haven't done an oriental theme for a while. This stamp is named 'Bamboo Serenade'. I coloured her with my usual watercolour pencils, and mounted onto some gold mirri and papers from a Debbie Moore cd. I've gone for an autumnal colour theme here rather than the usual oriental type colours of red and black and gold. Although, I couldn't leave out the gold, just makes it more oppulent to look at don't you think?

Metallic ribbon, fabric flowers and brads are all from the stash. The corner shape is a cuttlebug die cut from pearlescent brown cardstock. The sentiment is computer generated. All mounted onto a green base cardstock with metallic gold rub-on over the edges.

I have found a few challenges to enter this into:
Truly Scrumptious - sketch + easel card
Secret Crafter - Oriental
Corrosive Challenge - No white (skin is pink not white)
The Pink Elephant - Brown and Orange (I have some green and gold too!)
Pear Tree Designs - Free for all

Do stop by the Sweet Pea Stampers Challenge Blog and check out the prizes for the lucky winner, and all the lovely DT creations!

Challenge #1 @ The Crafty Purple Frog!!

Hiya folks!

Yeay! It's the first ever challenge at The Crafty Purple Frog!! Yeay!!

You really need to get over to the Challenge Blog and take a shifty at the fabby prizes on offer for Kick Off - loads up for grabs!! (Including some goodies from my shop, Delicious Doodles) And what do you have to do to win these prizes??? ANYTHING folks - the theme is 'Anything Goes', couldn't be easier huh??

So, I made a sideways Easel card for this challenge using the Peacock Blue Pyrimage sheet, which I chopped about a bit as I don't usually do pyrimage. I wanted the square image from the pyrimage sheet, rather than the oval of the decoupage sheet. I also used a yummy frame from a My Craft Studio cd, blue pearescent card, stickles and a few punches and spare card bits. Here is a piccie of the fold:

So simple, yet it took blooming ages for me to actually finish. It was sitting on the desk for almost a week while I was busy with other stuff!! Me BAD!! Talking of which, I have another card to finish for tomorrow, so I really must get on. Here is a close-up of the image:

These sheets are a total joy to work with, especially if you love Ching Chou-Kuik's lovely artwork, but can't be doing with the colouring in of all the fiddly bits (like me!) These are already coloured, and the layers are already sorted for you - cool eh??

I am entering this into the 'Open' challenge at Flutterby Wednesday, and in the 'Open' challenge at Pear Tree Designs.

OK peeps, off you go and check out the Brand New Challenge at The Crafty Purple Frog - see you there folks!

Boo! at The Sisterhood

Hiya folks!

Bit of a quickie today - need to go do the weekly shop (ugh!) before getting pelted with hailstones. Had a huge hail storm last night, and it was still around this morning when I got up. Still there now actually, in the shadows.

Talking of shadows (mwuhahaha!) over at The Sisterhood this week the new theme is 'Boo to You!'. Anything Halloween related is acceptable.

I have been somewhat busy just lately with new doodles, kids holidays and stuff that I haven't had enough time to make new cards for this challenge (me BAD!) So I have grabbed some stuff from last year to show you:

These were all made with my Delicious Doodles Images which you can find in my shop, along with many other Halloween themed stuff.

I'm also entering a couple of challenges:
Fab 'n' Funky - Things that go bump in the night

So, let's see your Halloween goodies at The Sisterhood peeps! See you there!

Tuesday Taggers - Nursery Rhymes

Hiya folks!

Hope I find all you poorly ladies getting better? Seems everyone has some sort of bug at the moment - must be the wierd weather we are all experiencing. Warm one day, cold the next. Never know what to put on in the mornings!

Enough blather, on to my card, which today is my DT piece for Tuesday Taggers. This week our Georgina has chosen 'Nursery Rhymes' as her theme (gee, thanks hun!) which had me in a total quandry all week wondering what to do. Then yesterday (not too late then) a brain flash hit me and I started to doodle, and here is what I came up with:

It's the Little Nut Tree.

I had been wanting to doodle something for Christmas for a little while, this was in my mind for that, so I decided to combine my doodle with this challenge. I will be releasing this one into the Delicious Doodles Shop tomorrow (Wednesday), along with another image I am still working on. Here is my card:

And here is the Rhyme:

I had a little nut tree, nothing would it bear,
but a silver nutmeg, and a golden pear.
The King of Spain's daughter came to visit me,
and all for the sake of my little nut tree.

Her dress was made of crimson, jet black was her hair,
she asked me for my nut tree and my golden pear.
I said, "So fair a Princess never did I see,
I'll give you all the fruit from my little nut tree”.

Had to google it I'm afraid, I'm rubbish at remembering nursery rhymes, even though my D2 is six years old!! tee-hee. I have followed a sketch from Midnight Madness for the layout. You get to choose between two sketches there, and they even give you a sneaky peak on a Friday - cool huh? Here is the sketch:

My papers are all digital, stored on the compy from various suppliers. I punched a flower using gold and silver mirri, topped off with a wee pearl. Ribbon, brads and pearls are from the stash, as is the gold and silver stickles. I added some of this to the nutmeg and pear too. Here is a close-up:

Forgive the naff lighting, we have a dark and damp day today here in NE Scotland, which doesn't make for a good photo!!

This fits a couple of other challenges, so here goes:
Tip Top Tuesday - Anything Goes
Fab 'n' Funky - 'Yummy' (bit obscure, but the pear and nutmeg are edible!!)
Simon Says - 3 different embellishments, 2 dp's, 1 image
Crafty Catz - Nursery Rhymes
Allsorts - Bingo Selection (I chose Punches, Flowers and Pearls)
OCC - Embellishments

OK then peeps, that's it for today. Off to finish up more DT stuff and try to get organised. Feel a bit like a floundering fish at the moment - too much going on in me head!! See ya later folks!

Charming! And a FREEBIE

Hiya folks!

Hope you are all having a great weekend. Uneventful one for me, just trying to finish up another new image, but keep on tweeking it - never satisfied see!!

But I digress, I have a very quick and simple card today, which I made as a sample for the Keep It Simple Challenge. I am sponsoring them this week with my Delicious Doodles Shop, so if you fancy winning FOUR of my digi's you need to get over there and enter!!

The theme they have for this week is 'Charming'. Now, I tossed several ideas away for this card. Good job they were only ideas and I hadn't made anything, LOL !!  But I finally settled on a 'Congratulations' card for either a wedding or engagement occasion.

I used a nouveau border that is stashed on my compy, and an image of some 'lovers' which I framed in a deco style box in my dp package, and just printed them all on an A5 sized card and folded it in half. I don't have this image in my shop for purchase, so here you go - have a FREEBIE!!!!

Last thing I did was grab a wee bow with rose on from the stash, and popped a heart charm through the sewed bit at the back before sticking to the card.

I am also entering this at Delightful Challenges, as they want to see 'Metal' this week.

Righty then - MUST finish that blooming image up, then the usual Sunday chores for me. You know, cooking, cleaning, more cooking, maybe crafting if I'm lucky. . . See ya later peeps!

The Watcher

Hiya folks!

Hope you are all well today? The sun is actually shining here in NE Scotland (for a change) Might go sort me garden after lunch, weeds are taking over again!!

Onto business then. My card today is showcasing a couple of brand new images which are now available in the Delicious Doodles Shop. The Watcher, and a new Halloween Border:

I have purposely not done any raised decoupage layering here, as I wanted it to fit the challenge at Haunted Design House, which this week is 'Simply Sinister'. Hope the Raven is sinister enough for you - I did make his eye red and put some red on the talons to make them look bloody (ugh!).  So here is the card I made:

I (sort of) followed the sketch from this week at Midnight Madness, but turned it sideways, and omitted the ribbony flowered bits. Here is the sketch:

The first card was done relatively flat, but I couldn't let it go at that! You know me and my layering (tee-hee!) So I printed a couple more images out and cut the Raven a couple of times and layered up with foam pads. Ah, that's better - I love a bit of dimension, just adds a bit of 'life' to an image. Here is the card again, but with layers:

The backing papers are my cobweb image printed in white on green. The purple card is core-dinations rubbed with sandpaper. Had to fussy cut the border, that was fiddly, but turned out OK. Here is a close-up:

OK, so this fits a few challenges (ooo-er, what a surprise! LOL)

Penny's Challenges - 'As long as it flies'
Crafts and Me - 'Halloween'
MAWTT - 'Halloween'
Stamp Something - 'Halloween'
Polka Doodles - 'Something Spooky'

Righty then peeps - off to do lunch (for the kiddies) then to the garden. Wish me luck with those weeds - I may be some time. . .

All Spooky and Glittery

Hiya folks!

Happy Wednesday to you! Hope you are all well today?

Bit of a quickie today, plus a combo job with the DT cards again (sneeky me!) This card is for two DT pieces, at The Creative Cottage where it is my pick (I chose Halloween) and at The Sisterhood of Crafters where the theme is 'Sparkle and Shine' chosen by Darlene.

So, for my card I used the 'Trick or Treat Topper Set1' and 'Boo Paper Pack' available in the new Creative Cottage Shop. I have layered the topper onto some glittery orange card cut with a nestie, and splodged stickles all over!

I printed out and cut the topper a few times to make my layers, and stuck them down with foam pads. Not the greatest of photos, was a bit dull when I took these, so the orange has gone a bit greenish, apologies!!

My layout was done on a whim, but it turns out that Creative Inspirations has a sketch just like this out today for their new challenge this week, co-incidence or what??!! Here, look:

Not sure if the card will be accepted or not, as the image is a printed topper, but I'm entering anyway. (I won't be offended if you don't include it peeps!) I am also entering this into the challenges at Fussy and Fancy Friday (Halloween) and Craftalicious (Open).

So there you have it peeps! Off to do some more creating now then, see you laters!!

Tuesday Taggers - 2+Legs

Hiya folks!

Hope I find you all well today? My cold is getting better now, thanks for all the well wishes folks! Love ya!! MIL has gone home, so got the house back to ourselves. Trouble is, the kids are on their school holidays now for TWO weeks! ugh!!

So, Tuesday today, and that means a new theme at Tuesday Taggers. This week our Michelle chose 'More than 2 legs' for her theme, so I decided to use my little Dormouse, available HERE.

I used the sketch at OCC for my layout, with papers from a Tinker & Co kit, 'Shabby Milly'. For a change I have kept this card fairly flat without all the fancy layers I usually do. Anyhow, here's the sketch:

The sentiment is generated on the compy. All I added to this card was a bit of ribbon from the stash, and some inky edges. Nice and simple today!

I am entering a few challenges with this one, so here goes:
Colour Create - Pink, Green and Cream
(my cream is a bit white on these photo's, but it is definately cream!)
Raise the Bar - Pink for Cancer Awareness
( yeah, I have green too, but it is girly)

OK then folks. Head over to Tuesday Taggers to see what yummies my DT sistah's have come up with for this challenge - not all of them have plumped for the usual furry 4 leggedness!! See you there!

Autumnal Fairy

Hiya folks!

Hope I find you all well this weekend? Many thanks to all those who gave me their best wishes. I do appreciate it folks - you are so caring out there. The cold is a bit better today, no headache, just loads of snot!! And sneezes! LOL. No sympathy from the family though - I'll remember that next time they get a cold!!

So, onto my card then. Today I have just released a brand new digi image over at Delicious Doodles named 'Jewelled Fairy', and here she is:

Hope you like her folks! I decided I wanted to colour her in autumnal colours, so out came the watercolour pencils (again - must get some of those markers everyone keeps on about). These colours fit the theme at Charisma Cards this week, which is 'Autumn colours'. I used a layout sketch from last week's Totally Gorjuss challenge, but am way behind because of the cold making me poorly, so it won't get entered there sadly.

My papers are from various sources, all digital, and all 'tweeked' to have autumn colours too. I have used spare card bits for making the flowers with using my punches, and some gems for their centres. These fit the themes at Cute Card Thursday and Polka Doodles, as they both want us to make our own embellishments, and at Stamp Something who want us to use Punches.

The bow is also hand-tied, using organza ribbon from the stash. I have used some (ssh) peel-off corners also from the stash. I have added some more bling in the shape of some stickles on the image, and some gold card in the flowers and leaves, and also some gold dimension paint dots at the ends of her wings. This fits the challenge at A Spoon Full of Sugar this week - 'Sparkle and Shine'.

Last but NOT least, this card fits the challenge at Fab 'n' Funky - 'Use a digi', and Flutterby Wednesday - 'Open theme + Butterfly/Fairy/Angel'.

OK then, off to catch up on some DT stuff that I'm way behind on, oh, and some boring old HW. Catch you later folks!
